Praise for Google from industry experts as Google Launches A New Form Of Social Search Called 'Search, Plus Your World'

Google's philosophy from the very start was to create the perfect search engine, and according to it's founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin this will involve a search engine that “would understand exactly what you mean and give back exactly what you want.”

With many changes happening every year, Googles first big announcement comes in the second week of the year, with the introduction of it's new social search initiative called 'search, plus your world'.

The new features bring personal results from Google+ to be fully integrated into the search engine results pages (SERPs). With a simple click of a button users can either include or remove the relevant profiles, posts and pictures from friends within their circles, a powerful advantage given to Google+ over Facebook,Twitter and other social networking websites, say QueryClick.

From today onwards, when carrying out a search within Google, the searching experience for many will be drastically improved with the introduction of privately shared content from friends and family mixed in with other material from all over the internet in every search.

Another feature introduced by the new social initiative is the ability to view profiles both in auto complete and the search results. Therefore improving the searching experience for finding people. Once the person has been discovered, it's now possible to interact from within the search results and allow ability of adding that person to your own Google+ circles.

A spokesperson from search engine marketing company, QueryClick, comments:  “The introduction of search, plus your world is great news for everyone who uses search, but it is currently only restricted to Google+ users. And although Google+ has reached around the 62 million users in a relatively short period, many searchers may not be impacted by the new changes introduced.”

“But overall, the new features will be greeted with great applause and will be sure to help bolster Google and their goals of creating a successful social media site platform.”

It's will only be available for those signed into Google.com and searching in English, and will begin to be visible within the next few days for everyone.

The Google Homepage Redesign Explained

QueryClick advise users on the recent changes to the Google homepage as part of its ongoing revamp.

Google has unveiled a new look for its homepage in what is being described as one of the firms 'biggest changes to date of its homepage'. The revamp, which has been rolled out to a few selected users, has been designed to showcase all of Google's other products to users – without having taking up too much of the homepage.

Christopher Liversidge, Managing Director of QueryClick explains: “The revamp of Google's homepage is something that's been around for a few weeks, and essentially it has been created in order to streamline and 'tidy up' Google's homepage.

Currently a user may see the 'revamp strip' along the top of the Google homepage, and when this strip is clicked, it reveals seven different Google products, such as Maps, YouTube, Images and Google+ to the user, with the option to reveal another eight related topics, including Calendar, Translate and Reader.”

This revamp, which Google has explained has been created in order to promote all of Google's services to users in the most accessible and tidiest way possible, unlike some of the other search engines available, such as Yahoo's infamously 'busy' design. Users will also be able to navigate to certain Google services much more easily as this redesign means a maximum of two clicks is all that is needed for a user to move from the homepage to another Google page, such as News or YouTube.

Christopher continues: “The Google homepage had undergone various redesigns since 1998, but the homepage has always stuck to the original format, that is the Google logo, the search bar and the list of all Google's other services.

"However, this is the first time that Google has moved away from this design, and it;s very likely that these changes will have come about because of user feedback and case studies, and at QueryClick we know how important SEO case studies are to the search industry, so we're really looking forward to seeing how this redesign will be received by users.”

Yahoo Undergoes a Christmas Makeover

QueryClickYahoo is hoping to transform their search pages for Christmas shoppers with the addition of new displays that allow users to search for recipes and find the best deals on their Christmas gifts too.
The changes, which went live earlier this month have made it much easier for busy users to find what they need quickly and efficiently, and could even start a new trend amongst search engines, say SEO experts QueryClick.

Christopher Liversidge, QueryClick's Managing Director comments: “Yahoo's new search results have been created with the most important person in mind: the user. Yahoo have realised that this time of year is when people typically search for new recipes to try out at Christmas, and also look for the best places to buy Christmas gifts, so the changes that they've made make a lot of sense, as they will help make the user's search experience much easier during this often busy and very stressful holiday.”

For users searching for recipes, Yahoo has made five different changes, including adding a slider at the top of the search results pages from allrecipes.com and other recipe sites, the option to filter results by ingredients and new tabs to help the user filter their results further by calorie count and preparation time. Users can also search for meal type, occasion and go to Yahoo's dedicated recipe URL: recipes.search.yahoo.com. And for shoppers, the search options are even better, say QueryClick.

Chris continues: “Now when a user searches Yahoo for Christmas gifts, they can view a slider of products, view new deals and even look at the buying guides for certain products, just by clicking on the “Buying Guide” tab. Yahoo has also made some changes to its search results for entertainment queries, with tabs for videos and tweets now available to users, which should make this Christmas a lot easier for people all over the world, which is just a great result for everyone, especially everyone here at QueryClick.

It's this level of success that has seen QueryClick experience recession-defying growth as a company but also manage to create record return on investment for their clients, the list of which includes a variety of companies from globally renowned FTSE 100 firms to local start-up businesses.

Google's New Sitelinks Are A Welcomed Improvement Says UK SEO Agency QueryClick

During August Google introduced their new and improved sitelinks that appear within the Search Engine Result Pages (SERPs). It was found being tested within the SERPs weeks before the changes were made official so many already knew the changes that were to come.

As explained by Google the overall aim is to “improve the organisation and quality of our search results”. Which is always an on-going process with tweaks and changes being seen on a frequent basis.

The new and improved sitelinks within the SERPs have been drastically changed and updated. Each sitelink is much clearer than before and includes a link, URL and a line of snippet text. Google have also stated that with the new improved sitelinks comes greater visibility, flexibility, clarity and quality.

A spokesman from a top SEO company in the UK, Edinburgh-based QueryClick, commented: “The recent changes have made a big impact on how the first page within the SERP's are displayed for brand and navigational searches. These changes make having a well structured site even more important to ensure that the most relevant results are displayed for navigational searches for your brand combined with a search term.”

Google also confirmed that sitelinks from a ranking perspective have no separation between regular results and sitelinks any more. This has created greater clarity within the SERPs because all other results will be different to the top ranking result domain. Therefore the sitelinks will be a compilation of the previous top ranking webpages that would have appeared within the SERPs as an individual listing.

The spokesman from QueryClick was encouraged with the changes made and commented further: “The SERPs are much more relevant for brand searches where the user intent is clear as the sitelinks are larger and will move many results below the fold there will definitely be increased competition within markets who try to optimise for competitor brands like the price comparison market.”

Because sitelinks will now vary over time and by query there may be a certain links that will be shown or could be shown which can be considered inappropriate or irrelevant, so it is now possible within the Webmaster Tools to suggest a demotion to your sitelinks. Allowing a maximum of 100 demotions per site.

The new and improved sitelinks are only available to all modern browsers such as Chrome, IE and Firefox.

Twitterverts? QueryClick Comment On Twitter's Introduction of Promoted Tweets

Edinburgh-based SEO agency QueryClick say they are excited about the recent Twitter announcement made on 28th July, 2011, that confirmed 'Promoted Tweets' have now been introduced to everyone's time line.

So from now on, all Twitter users will have visible promoted tweets that will appear at the top of their time line much similar to all other tweets, and will only appear from organisations they are currently following. The ability to be dismissed by a single click and the appearance of the promoted tweet only once allows for minimum impact for regular users.

Twitter have stated the social media site allows all users to connect and discover the latest information on the topics and people they care about. Therefore, if anyone is following an organisation or brand this will allow everyone to have access to the latest information and content regarding those organisations and brands as soon as they are made available.

A spokes,an from the search engine optimisation experts, QueryClick said: “The promoted tweets have been introduced in a very smart way. In which only people who you are currently following is made visible and as a result gives you ultimate control over what you see. In addition, because the the promoted tweets appear in the form of regular tweets this will reduce the impact it will have on the users experience, while offering an increased opportunity to discover more information.”

Twitter have stated that it is still being rolled out and tested with a group of selected partners. This is set to grow within the coming weeks, during which it will allow many non-profit organisations to create promoted tweets also, increasing the reach from just brands and other organisations.

The Spokesman added: “Hopefully in the coming months there will be many more features and ways in which the concept will grow, especially once there has been enough user feedback. Also, it will not be clear until the community itself speak up on how they feel about promoted tweets being introduced, but I believe it is a positive step forward for Twitter.”
